Autodesk 3ds Max hair and V-Ray test animation

Autodesk 3ds Max hair and V-Ray test animation from JG3D on Vimeo . This started out as a test of the 3ds Max 2010 built-in hair&fur solution, rendered out with V-Ray SP3a, but I got a bit carried away with the Psytrance audio. (Thank you Mike :)) Movement is very jerky, but it gives me an idea of what is possible. Next I will add motion blur to the hairs... Music by Skazi & 40% - Smells Like Homus Spirit

The third & the seventh arch viz videos

Alex Roman has created these inspirational, fully CG architectural visualisation videos, using 3dsmax, Vray, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere. Very different from the usual arch viz stuff I see, and come to think of it, very different from the arch viz stuff I make :) I like Alex's approach very much - very cinematic. More info can be found at his website: http://www.thirdseventh.com/ T&S Teaser 1 from Alex Roman on Vimeo . T&S Teaser2 from Alex Roman on Vimeo . T&S Teaser 3 from Alex Roman on Vimeo .

Tutorial: How to make a shadow matte with V-Ray

Welcome to this tutorial on making a shadow matte with V-Ray. To complete this tutorial you will need 3DS Max 2008 or newer, with V-Ray 1.5 and Adobe Photoshop. The purpose of this tutorial is to show you how to render out a 3D object, with its shadow included in an alpha channel, so that you can composite the 3D object and it's shadow on top of an existing photograph. You will need to download the "vray shadow matte tutorial.rar" file from: http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/473854 In this file you will find two 3ds max files, a background photo and some additional info. Please note that the max file used in this tutorial uses the V-Ray LWF (Linear Work Flow) technique, as described on the chaosgroup forums (www.chaosgroup.com). To use LWF you need to change 3DS Max's Gamma settings - please see the included file called "LWF_gamma_settings.jpg" to see what your settings should be. (You can change the Gamma settings in 3DS Max under:...

Tutorial: how to make a chrome material and use an HDRI in V-Ray

Welcome to this tutorial on making a chrome material and using an HDR image in V-Ray. To complete this tutorial you will need 3DS Max with V-Ray 1.5. Step 1 The first thing we need to do is create an object that we will apply our chrome material to, in my case I made a simple teapot. Add a camera to the scene too. Step 2 Create a normal V-Ray material. (Open up the material editor and change the first material in the material editor to a VrayMtl ). Rename this material "chrome" Step 3 We can leave the Diffuse colour of the chrome material grey, as chrome(chromium) seems to be a steely-grey colour in reality ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromium ). It doesn't really matter what colour we make the Diffuse channel though, because we are going to make it so reflective, (in the next step), that it's colour will come from whatever it reflects in the environment around it. Step 4 Change the reflect colour to pure white (maximum reflectivity) Step 5 Change ...
